Surprisingly a piano ballad and Halsey sounds beautiful. It takes a few listens but it is really good in the end. It hits you in the 3rd chorus where all the instruments in and the ultimatum of its now or never towards her lover, describing their struggles throughout this mythical relationship. Now this song is tricky since on debut the song didn’t overwhelm me but on gradual listen I love it now. Halsey is doing amazing so far and I’m so happy that she has exceeded my expectations with different genres of music. A song about a social butterfly at a party, it has a cinematic 50’s inspired intsrumental and again this is amazing. Wasn’t expecting this instrumental for this song. The chorus is anthemic and beautiful. Halsey’s lyrics are as beautiful as ever.
You feel how I’m feeling during the first verse. The bass in this is my favourite part of the track besides the attitude in the chorus. The chorus is immaculate which is guaranteed since Halsey wrote it and the idea of still feeling emotions for the ex whilst in a new relationship is an interesting topic and is delivered very well. On first listen of this song I really enjoyed it. I just really like this song as is a good opener to the original song list if you know what I mean? The use of Greek mythology is interesting in the idea of people working through bad times of the relationship. It sets up the story for the Romeo and Juliet style story by using the exct opener of the play. Ok the instrumental is just flawless for a monologue. I know there’s a concept behind the album so let’s see how I feel about this album first listen. Badlands is one of my favourite debuts ever created so my expectations of this album are quite high I’m not going to lie.
